Everest on Grand

I was having a really lazy day because I did a workout in the morning and then slept till two! I made myself a huge breakfast at four in the afternoon. That turned out to not be a good move.
My mom asked me where I wanted to go out to dinner and I thought of Everest.(http://www.everestongrand.com/index.html) Ive had take out there before and thought it was quite good.
It was a beautiful day as you can see the glare on the street sign. We walked in and everything was kind of relaxed. No one seemed uptight which I liked. It was a little noisy for such a little place, but it seems well liked since it is always full.

I saw they had a Mango Lassi(I have no idea what that is.) and I thought I should try it because it sounded good. It was yogurt blended with mango, clove, cardamon, and cinnamon.
The drink was really good at first. The clove stood out unexpectedly and made me want more. I would have probably finished it easily, but I was not too hungry because I made such a big meal earlier that day.

Since I was at a Nepali restaurant, I had to get a Simosa. The Simosa was as delicious as expected. The sauce was not too spicy, but to me Nepali food never starts too spicy, but builds up and your tongue feels it later. The dumpling was a Momo, my mom ordered that. That was nothing special because it pretty much tasted like a generic dumpling.

My mom wanted yak meat so we ordered a Yak Chhoyla. It was pretty much yak in a lot of spices a peppers. I think I would have enjoyed my meal much more if I had more of an appetite that night, but the little I tasted of the yak, I enjoyed a lot. Some pieces were nice and tender, but some were a little tough. I don't know if it is the nature of the meat or some pieces were just cooked more than others. I still liked it. My mom some how got a shaving of steel in her rice. I was shocked and then wondered where it came from. We did not mention anything to the waitress.
My dad ordered a potato curry dish. I did not find anything special about this dish. It was good, but seemed a little bland. The potatoes were cooked well. I don't see how this could ever be a meal on its own because it felt light.

The price here is not too bad and you have to know what to order to get the right thing. I probably will not go back here for awhile. The atmosphere was a little too noisy for my tastes in such a small place. The location is nice as it is on Grand ave. across from Kowalski's.

Salut

There is a new restaurant in my neighborhood called Salut(http://www.salutbaramericain.com/) so I had to check it out of course. As I was just about to make myself something to eat my mom comes in and says lets go out to lunch. Me being lazy and all decided why not. It was especially easy since it is only a block away from my house. Located on Grand avenue, this prime spot is sure to give lots of business.

It was a hot day yet we still desired to sit on the patio which was quite nice. One problem was the lack of umbrellas so the heat of the sun was very intense. We were getting quite uncomfortable, but the ice cold water came out and we were relieved. We wanted to be quick so we ordered very quickly and the service which was exceptional and got to it right away. Soon after a nice little baguette came out for us. Unfortunately the butter was salted and kind of turned me off. I like unsalted butter for the pureness of it. As I was sitting there listening to my brother and my mom talk I was observing the place from the outside and the ambiance was quite lively which I liked. I also noticed the over stocking of employees, but I bet once we left it got quite busy as we just missed the lunch rush.Hey, its better to be over prepared then not prepared. The food finally came out, but thats an exaggeration because it came out within five to ten minutes. I like not having to wait to long for lunch because it is supposed to be a quick meal.

I ordered the tuna steak sandwich. Overall it was quite tasty. I did not totally grasp why they put an American flag on my sandwich because this was supposed to be a French restaurant. I thought the cucumbers were soaked in too much vinegar because all I tasted was vinegar and not so much cucumber. The tuna by itself was not seasoned so tasted really bland, but as a whole sandwich it was very satisfying! The combination of the spicy mayo on the ciabatta and the tuna was wonderful. I ate the whole thing easily since I was so hungry. Most of the sandwiches at Salut are rather large so come hungry. Their food is nice and the atmosphere is what I like to see at a restaurant on Grand avenue. Besides the almost offensive mockery of the French this place is really cool. It is a little on the expensive side, but if you order the right thing it is worth the cost, so it would be a nice place for a night out.

Ngon Vietnamese Bistro

I am a new blogger. I wanted to become a blogger because of this restaurant! The meal I had was an amazing summer meal. The atmosphere was delightful. The bright color of the walls complemented the splendid meal. I started off with a spring roll filled with shrimp, pork , carrots, rice and accompanied with a nice peanut sauce. This cold dish was a great opener to a nice summer meal. For dinner I experimented and went for a cold Seared Ahi Tuna mango salad pasta. The combination of the angel hair pasta and the mango salad was tremendous. The sauce that was in the salad was delicious, but I was unable to find out what is was because the cooks had left by the time I asked. The tuna was seared perfectly for me because it was light, but did not taste raw. The meal was great and the service was exceptional. I will go back to this restaurant over and over because the entrées are all about $10 and superb. Thank you for reading my first post and I hope to write about other restaurant experiences in the future.
